WOMEN, CHILDREN, DISABLED , SENIOR CITIZENS WELFARE

The Department of Women and Child Development was set up in the year 1985 as a part of the Ministry of Human Resource Development to give the much needed impetus to the holistic development of women and children. With effect from 30.01.2006, the Department has been upgraded to a Ministry. For holistic into development of the child, the Ministry has been implementing the world’s largest outreach programme of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) providing a package of services comprising supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-up and referral services, pre-school non-formal education. There is effective coordination and monitoring of various sectoral programmes. Most of the programmes of the Ministry are run through non-governmental organizations. Efforts are made to have more effective involvement of NGOs. The major policy initiatives undertaken by the Ministry in into the recent past include universalisation of ICDS and Kishori Shakti Yojana, launching a nutrition programme for adolescent girls, establishment of the Commission for protection of Child Rights and enactment of Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act

SCHEMES

  • Arogyalakshmi: Programme Under Arogyalakshmi Programme or One full meal programme in 713 AWC’s of ICDS Projects of Gadwal(U), Maldakal, Manopad started w.e.f. 01.01.2015. 5745 pregnant and 5721 nursing mothers are provided one ful meal spot-feeding wit Rice – 150 grms, Daal -30 grms, Oil – 16 grms, Milk – 200ml, Vegetables – 50 grms per day and 30 eggs per month for an amount of Rs.21/- per day each beneficiary.
  • Balamrutham: 28495 number of 7 months to 3 years children are provided with Balmrutham of 2½ Kgs packet and 16 Eggs per month per beneficiary.
  • Kurkure: 26647 number of 3-6 yrs children are provided with snack food kurkure 20 grms each beneficiary.
  • Hot Cooked Meal: 48641 Children of 3yrs to 6yrs covered are spot- feeding with Rice – 75 grms, Daal – 15 grms, Oil – 5 grms, Vegetables – 25 grms and Kurkure 20 grms per day per beneficiary and 30 eggs for each beneficiary for one month for an amount of Rs.7.26/- per day each beneficiary. 5745 pregnant and 5721 nursing mothers are provided one ful meal spot-feeding wit Rice – 150 grms, Daal -30 grms, Oil – 16 grms, Milk – 200ml, Vegetables – 50 grms per day and 30 eggs per month for an amount of Rs.21/- per day each beneficiary.
  • Poshan Abhiyaan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with the vision to ensure attainment of malnutrition free India by 2022. The objective of POSHAN Abhiyaan to reduce stunting in identified Districts of India with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilization of Anganwadi Services and improving the quality of Anganwadi Services delivery. Its aim to ensure holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, mothers and children.
  • Poshan Pakwada :-Ministry of Women & Child Development, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi has decided to celebrate the first anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan on 8thMarch, 2019 by organizing Poshan Pakhwada from 8thto 22nd March, 2019 across the country as part of Jan Andolan under POSHAN Abhiyaan. Activities under Conduct House visits using Intintiki Anganwadi Counselling book daily along with ASHA/ANM/Etc. Involve family members, with more focus on Male participation.
  • Poshan Mahh: Ministry of Women & Child Development as the nodal agency, launched Rashtriya Poshan Maah or National Nutrition Month, across the length and breadth of the country on the 01stof Sep 2018. With wide range of activities focussing on antenatal care, anaemia, growth monitoring, girl’s education, diet, right age of marriage, hygiene and sanitation, eating healthy as themes were organised during the Poshan Maah. The secretary also disclosed that the ICDS-CAS rollout is also moving at a good pace and more than 4 lakh Anganwadis will be covered by this IT tool by December this year.
  • Children Home(Child Care Institution): There is one Government Children Home is located at Gadwal with sanctioned strength 60 poor orphan and semi-orphan children are provided with food and education with Rs.750/- for 1st to 5th class children. At present strength is 19.
  • Integrated Child Protection Services (ICPS): The District Child Protection unit is started and functioning from October 2016, DCPU rescues the children from Child Labour, Missing Children, Runaway, Relinquished abandoned, Child Marriages and Juvenile Homes etc., in DCPU rescued 331 children from different areas under smile muskaan programmee and there are 157 Child Marriages were stopped. In the part of DCPU Activities 137 village level Child Protection Committees formed, for strengthen and implementation of the Village Level Child Protection Policies.

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was launched by the Prime Minister on 22nd January, 2015 at Panipat, Haryana. BBBP addresses the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and related issues of women empowerment over a life-cycle continue. It is a tri-ministerial effort of Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health & Family Welfare and Human Resource Development.

The key elements of the scheme include Enforcement of PC & PNDT Act, nation-wide awareness and advocacy campaign and multi-sectoral action in select 100 districts (low on CSR) in the first phase. There is a strong emphasis on mindset change through training, sensitization, awareness raising and community mobilization on ground. In the part of activities we have conducted Two District Level Convergence meetings regarding Bachpan Bachao Andolen with Line Departments.

Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG)

The Government is implementing Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls (RGSEAG)–‘Sabla’, a Centrally-sponsored scheme in 205 districts selected from all the States/UTs. The scheme Sabla aims at empowering Adolescent Girls (AGs) (11-18 years) through nutrition, health care and life skills education. Scheme Sabla has two major components viz. Nutrition and Non Nutrition. Under the Nutrition component, the out of school AGs in the age group of 11-14 years attending AWCs and all girls in the age group of 14-18 years are provided Supplementary Nutrition containing 600 calories, 18-20 grams of protein and micronutrients, per day for 300 days in a year. The non-nutrition component addresses the developmental needs of adolescent girls. Under this componentout of school adolescent girls of 11-18 years are being provided IFA supplementation, health check-up & referral services, nutrition & health education, ARSH counseling/guidance on family welfare, life skill education, guidance on accessing public services and vocational training (only 16-18 year old adolescent girls). It also aims towards mainstreaming out of school AGs into formal/non formal education. Nearly 100 lakh adolescent girls per annum are expected to be benefitted under the scheme.

  • ADOLESCENT EMPOWERMENT (YUVA PROGRAMME)

The Adolescent Empowerment Programme in collaboration with Pediatric Academy of Telangana State (PATS) on every 3rd Wednesday shall be conducted. Already budget provision is made in annual action plan of DCPUs. The following instructions are issued for effective implementation.

  • One Stop Centres(OSC): One Stop Centres (OSC) Building is sanctioned and functioning is going to be in a short period.

Welfare of Disabled & Senor Citizen’s:

  • Sanction of Pre-metric scholarships to the disabled students
  • Sanction of Post-metric scholarships to the disabled students for inter and above courses.
  • Sanction of Marriage Incentive Awards to the persons who married with Disabled Person.
  • Sanction of subsidy under Economy Rehabilitation Scheme to the disabled persons.
  • Supply of Aids & Appliances through TSVCC like try-cycles, wheel chairs, crutches, blind sticks, daisy players, laptops and motorized vehicles.

  • The Birthday of Louis Braille is celebrated grandly every year in Blind School (Andhula Aashrama Patasala).
